Home > Blog > Introducing PUKAR – An emergency safety app

Pukar is not just a smartphone application. It goes beyond the typical women’s safety product. Pukar allows a user in danger to send a distress signal to her chosen emergency contacts. The distress signal includes a link to her location and an option to connect with the police* for coordinated rescue action. Pukar also converts the user’s phone into a tracking device as soon as the alarm is raised – and it quietly sends regular updates to the contacts.

Pukar has been developed by People for Parity, a non-profit working to curb violence against women.
